"Vanessa Rubin"Soul Eyes"Released in 1992 on Novus, "Soul Eyes" by Vanessa Rubin is a beautiful set. Comprising of a good selection of standards, vocalist Rubin delivers a great LP which gives a sense of feeling and quality. The stand out track for me is an uplifting version of Coltrane's "Giants Steps". The title track is a good soulful ballad and "I've got the world on a string" and "Dearly beloved" are also highlights on this classy outing. This might be one of those CD's that may have passed you by so catch it this time around, its well worth a listen!
One of my favourite scores, Michel Legrand's "The Thomas Crown Affair" perfectly captures the 60's cool that McQeen and Dunaway portray within the film. The score itself is essentially variations on a theme(apart from" Windmills of your mind"). The stand out track for me is"Playing the field" which is a fast paced work out. Check It!!
